Small Press Traffic presents A tribute to kari edwards, an evening that will invoke and honor a fierce trans poet, artist, activist, and luminary with a community altar, a conversation, and fragments from her books, art, and life. Presenters include Julian Talamantez Brolaski, Noa Fields, Rob Halpern, and Bianca Messinger.
The communities of kari's friends and admirers are invited to participate in the altar and conversation. Guests will be able to take home written contributions from Trace Peterson, erica kaufman, and more.
This event is co-hosted by the Poetics Program at the University of Buffalo and will be simultaneously livestreamed.

NOTES ON ACCESsIBILITY
A wheelchair lift can be accessed through the center doors of the Redstone Building (2940 16th Street). Contact SPT in advance if you will need the doors to the lift open. Each bathroom has one stall with a 35 inch clearance at the door. The Lab supports Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) through its mixing board. Contact us to reserve ASL services at least one week in advance.
Noa Micaela Fields
Noa Micaela Fields is an echodeviant in search of transverse wildness in her one and only captionless life. She is the author of E, forthcoming from Nightboat Books, and the chapbook With (Ghost City Press). You can also find her poems and art writing in Tripwire, Anomaly, Poem of the Day, Zoeglossia, Elderly, Tyger Quarterly, Emergency Index, and Sixty Inches From Center. She curates public programs at the Poetry Foundation and has received fellowships from Zoeglossia, 3Arts, and Disability Lead. She lives in the midwest, home of house and techno.
Rob Halpern
Rob Halpern is the author of several poetry collections, most recently, Hieroglyphs of the Inverted World (Kenning Editions, 2022). His translations of Georges Perec's early essays on culture and politics are forthcoming from Verso. He also organizes The Writers’ Bloc inside Women’s Huron Valley prison in Southeast Michigan.
Julian Talamantez Brolaski
Julian Talamantez Brolaski (it / its / itself) is poet and country singer, the author of Of Mongrelitude (Wave Books 2017), Advice for Lovers (City Lights 2012), and gowanus atropolis (Ugly Duckling Presse 2011). With Juan & the Pines, Julian released an EP Glittering Forest in 2019; its first full-length solo album is coming out this fall. Julian is the recipient of the 2020 Foundation for Contemporary Arts Cy Twombly Award for Poetry and a 2021 Pew Foundation Fellowship. Its poetry was recently included in When the Light of the World was Subdued, Our Songs Came Through: A Norton Anthology of Native Nations Poetry (2020) and We Want It All: An Anthology of Radical
Trans Poetics (Nightboat 2020).

Bianca Messinger
Bianca Rae Messinger is a poet and translator living and working in Buffalo, NY. She is the author of the chapbooks The Love of God (Inpatient Press, 2016) and parallel bars (Center for Book Arts, 2021) and translator of In the Jungle There is Much to Do (comunidad del sur [mauricio gatti], Berlin Biennale, 2020) among others. Her book pleasureis amiracle is forthcoming from Nightboat books.
