In preparation for the 2027 Small Press Traffic Poets Theater Festival, we invite you to a generative Poets Theater Workshop. Discover the joys and mayhem of acting in and writing your own Poets Theater performance. In this workshop, San Francisco Poets Theater veterans Lindsey Boldt and Steve Orth will offer a brief background of the art form, guide you in casting, rehearsing, and performing a short Poets Theater play, brainstorming, and writing your very own performance text.
We highly encourage pairs and groups of friends to sign up with the intention of writing collaboratively. Solo writers are also welcome! No previous experience required.
The cost to attend the workshop is on a sliding scale, $15-30 (NOTAFLOF). When the workshop fills, you will be notified that you are on the waitlist.

Lindsey Boldt
Lindsey Boldt is a poet, playwright, editor, and teacher. She is the author of the books Overboard and Weirding, and several chapbooks including Titties for Lindsey and There Are No Cops in America & The Streets Are Paved w/ Cheese. Her work playfully examines questions of expanded and altered human and non-human perception, the pleasures and pains of embodiment, and the absurd. She is currently working on a project about The Fool as cross-cultural archetype and source of radical rebellion and resilience. She is the editorial director of Nightboat Books and has taught poetry workshops in Bay Area public schools, independent workshops on oracular poetry, folk magic, plant medicine, and Poets Theater. Her third book, Tripper, will be published by City Lights Books in 2027.
Steve Orth
Steve Orth is a writer living in Oakland, CA. His books include Lust for Life, Angel Island and Other Poems, The Life & Times of Steve Orth, and Inflatable Ball. Steve is part of the curational team behind the Friday Night Poetry Readings at Tamarack. He has acted in and written several Poets Theater performances.
